Angel of Shavano Camping Trip 2015

What We’re Doing

June 12-14 we will be holding our second Annual Angel of Shavano now know as the Angel Scratch Cache camping trip.  In addition to other activities, we will be checking in our the geocache we placed last year.  Like last year, we will camp at  Angel of Shavano group campsite near Salida.   Angel of Shavano Group Campground is considered one of the area’s best kept camping secrets. It is situated next to the North Fork South Arkansas River and offers a variety of recreational activities, including hiking, biking and fishing. The itinerary is as follows:

Where We Are Staying

We’re staying at the  Angel of Shavano group campsite near Salida.   It’s a huge site that can accommodate 24 cars and 100 people.  The site is equipped with a picnic shelter, tables, six pedestal grills and a campfire circle with benches. Vault toilets and trash collection are provided. No drinking water is available within the group site, but it is available at the nearby family campground.   The Amenities include the following: Within Facility

How to Check In

  1. Print out my receipt.
  2. Go to site.
  3. If asked, show the receipt and mention my name.

How to Get there?

Here is a map containing the campground and many of the things we’re going to do. Click on the link with the green tent icon 2014-05-03_2106 , then click Directions to get exact driving directions from your home.

How much will it cost?

The cost is $229 for the whole site.  We will split it up by family.  If we get more/less the price will go down/up.   Click here to see a full list of who is coming. Don’t worry about paying me now; we can settle up at the campsite.

What to Bring

It’s car camping, so the usual (tents/sleeping bags/chairs/etc.) is required. See my handy checklist if you’d like to spark some ideas on what you should bring. There is no potable water at the campground but there is available close, so bring jugs (lots of jugs) to store it. Bring sports equipment, frisbees, etc.  Bring glow sticks and other night time stuff.

Meals: Breakfasts and Dinners

We’ll do meals potluck style.  Just plan for meals for your family and extra if you want to share. We can coordinate in real time if we want to share some of the responsibilities. We’ll do Breakfasts around 7 AM and Dinners around 6 PM. Lunches/snacks should be done on your own.
