So went to the Doctor last week for the regular, monthly checkup.  All was good, but Marni had to take a quad screen .  The quad screen is conducted during the second trimester (15 weeks to 22 weeks) to identify pregnancies at a higher risk for Down syndrome, trisomy 18, or an open neural tube defect.

It's a simple blood test that will help tell us if our baby-to-be might (operative word here) have some defects.  In other words, the test is far from perfect.  Still, a good score means you have less to worry about.  A bad score means that you have more (but you also may not need more).

Yikes.  Talk about a new source of agida!  Yikes.  While not the first time in my life that I had little control of the outcome of a test, I couldn't help but feel a little vulnerable.  Could I have prepared myself for it?  Is there any way that I could done something to further insure that my kid passes.

I guess this is a glimpse into my future.

BTW - The test came back great.  All is good with little Z.  Or at least we have a good chance of thinking so....Argggh!!!
